FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The campaign of Rep. Abigail Spanberger — a former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer — released its latest ad, “Listening.”
In “Listening,” Spanberger highlights her commitment to holding town halls to listen and responding to the concerns of Virginians, as well as her record of working with Democrats and Republicans to help improve the lives of Virginians.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger:
I hold so many town halls to ask questions, and to hear from you.
Representative Abigail Spanberger held a town hall…
People have the chance to ask Spanberger questions…
Your concerns guide my work…
More funding for law enforcement…
Helping middle class families make ends meet…
Cutting taxes for small businesses…
Spanberger was there to listen…
She’s ranked one of the most bipartisan Members of Congress…
I’m Abigail Spanberger and I approve this message.
Spanberger is accountable…
And she acted on my concerns…
And I totally believe I can trust her.
“Abigail knows how to get things done for Virginians,” said Sam Signori, Campaign Manager, Abigail Spanberger for Congress. “Abigail shows up to town halls and meet-and-greets to listen to the concerns of her constituents, and she responds by addressing those concerns in Congress. Abigail knows just how important it is to fund our local police departments, keep our communities safe, and grow Virginia’s economy. That’s why Abigail isn’t afraid to work across party lines to make Virginia safer, stronger, and an even better place to raise a family or start a business.”

Spanberger – a former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer – holds herself accountable to all Virginians – whether they voted for her or not.
That’s why Spanberger holds regular town halls. During these events – sometimes in person, sometimes virtual – Spanberger is able to listen to the top concerns of Virginians, and address those concerns in Congress. Since taking office, Spanberger has held more than 40 public town hall events.
Spanberger knows that to get things done for Virginians, she needs to work across the aisle to craft commonsense legislation that will make the lives of Virginians better.
Earlier this year, Spanberger was once again ranked as the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia, and among the top five most bipartisan Members of the U.S. House overall.
Since she was first elected to serve in Congress, Spanberger has voted every year to increase funding for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) programs. The COPS program helps Virginia police departments hire new police officers and support community policing initiatives. From 2019–2020, Spanberger’s vote helped increase COPS funding by 13 percent, and from 2020–2021, Spanberger’s vote increased COPS funding by 12.5 percent. Most recently, from 2021–2022, Spanberger voted to increase COPS funding by 32.5 percent.
Additionally, Spanberger has voted to increase funding for federal law enforcement (U.S. Marshals, FBI, DEA, ATF). From 2019–2020, and 2020–2021, Spanberger voted to increase federal law enforcement funding by three percent each year. This year, 2021–2022, Spanberger voted to increase federal law enforcement funding by four percent.
Spanberger is working with a bipartisan coalition to pass the Invest to Protect Act, which would make critical investments in local police departments.
