NEW TV AD: Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman Endorses Abigail Spanberger

Note that when Riggleman was in the US House, he was a VERY conservative Republican member who voted 92% with Trump, so this is a very striking endorsement.

Virginia Republican Endorses Spanberger, Cuts New Ad Highlighting Spanberger’s Bipartisanship

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The campaign of Rep. Abigail Spanberger — a former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer — released its latest ad, “Bipartisan.”

The ad features former Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman applauding Spanberger’s bipartisan record in Congress. In the ad, Riggleman says Spanberger puts “country first” and is breaking precedent in this era marked by hyperpartisanship by “trying to change Congress.”

Fmr. Rep. Denver Riggleman

This is not a typical political ad…

I’m a Republican Congressman, saying nice things about a Democrat…

In Congress, the parties sit apart, and don’t work together…

Except Abigail Spanberger…

She’s trying to change Congress and make it work…

And she’s ranked the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia…

And fifth in the country…

In the CIA, Abigail worked counterterrorism…

She puts country first…

That’s why I support Abigail.

In an interview with the Washington Post on his participation in the TV ad, Riggleman added: “I think tribal politics is the worst thing we can have. … I think that’s another reason for Abby [Spanberger], is that she’s bipartisan — she certainly wants to help the people in her district regardless of if they’re Republican or Democrat, and that’s a special trait to have.”

BACKGROUND

Spanberger – a former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer –  holds herself accountable to all Virginians – whether they voted for her or not.

Last year, Spanberger helped lead negotiations with Democrats and Republicans in Congress to deliver critical investments for Virginia’s infrastructure. This bipartisan infrastructure law is already beginning to rebuild Virginia’s roads and bridges, reduce traffic and congestion on Virginia’s highways, and help complete long overdue water infrastructure projects.

Spanberger was proud to vote for the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act – which recently became law – that will boost Virginia’s semiconductor industry, grow Virginia’s economy, and keep America ahead of the Chinese Communist Party.

Earlier this year, Spanberger was once again ranked as the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia, and among the top five most bipartisan Members of the U.S. House overall.
