Congresswoman Luria Releases 16th TV Ad, Highlights Jen Kiggans’ Pivot to the Extreme Right
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) announced the release of “Change,” her 16th television ad of the 2022 cycle. “Change” highlights Jen Kiggans’ dangerous pivot to the extreme right as she supports a national abortion ban and refuses to say whether Joe Biden won a free and fair election in 2020.
“Jen Kiggans has made a conscious decision to run as fast as she can to the far-right fringes of her party by refusing to say that Joe Biden fairly won the 2020 election and making clear that she will support a national abortion ban. She is too dangerous and too extreme for Coastal Virginia,” Congresswoman Luria said. “As a 20-year Navy veteran, I will continue to live up to the oath I took at 17 years old and be an independent voice in Congress to expand veteran health care services, secure billions in defense investments to stand up to China, and deliver for Coastal Virginia.”
The Virginian Pilot editorial board slammed Kiggans in August: “After announcing her bid for Congress, she apparently decided that the path to victory is the selling of her soul,” and compared her to conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The Washington Post editorial board criticized Kiggans as she has“ pivoted from the center to the extremes as she eyed a congressional race.” The editorial board also wrote that Kiggans is one of only four state senators who voted for a $70 million taxpayer-funded audit of the 2020 election in Virginia, which Joe Biden won by 10 points.
Kiggans embarrassingly ran away from several reporters asking if Joe Biden won a free and fair election after the Hampton Roads Chamber debate. Immediately following the second debate in Smithfield, Kiggans was quickly rushed through a back door to avoid local reporters and repeatedly refused to answer follow-up questions from 13 News Now as to whether Joe Biden won.
Bearing Drift, “Virginia’s Conservative Voice,” slammed Jen Kiggans for repeatedly refusing to answer whether Joe Biden was fairly elected President of the United States: “Jen Kiggans would have us think she’s just an ordinary, pre-Trump Republican State Senator looking to move up.”
