6 Days Out: Jen Kiggans Continues To Campaign On Republican Plan To Cut Social Security and Medicare
“I think it’s a great plan!” – Jen Kiggans
Richmond, VA – Today, Jen Kiggans continued to campaign on Republicans’ dangerous plan to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block.
In a Twitter post, Kiggans pushed Kevin McCarthy’s “Commitment To America” plan, a plan McCarthy said himself would put Social Security and Medicare at risk:
“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said that if Republicans win control of the House the GOP will use raising the debt limit as leverage to force spending cuts — which could include cuts to Medicare and Social Security”
This comes after Kevin McCarthy campaigned for Jen Kiggans where she endorsed McCarthy’s plan to cut Virginians’ benefits saying – “I think it’s a great plan.”
Kevin McCarthy and Jen Kiggans’ “Commitment to America” plan is nothing more than a commitment to rip away Virginians’ Social Security and Medicare, and their reproductive rights. In the Commonwealth, over 1.5 million Virginians rely on Social Security benefits and Medicare to make ends meet and get the health care they need.
“Jen Kiggans, a geriatric nurse, would rip away healthcare and Social Security benefits from our seniors,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “The contrast could not be more clear: while Congresswoman Luria is still fighting to protect healthcare and Social Security benefits, Jen Kiggans is running on an agenda of higher premiums, higher prescription drug costs, and reduced healthcare options for Coastal Virginians.”
