Hi Friend,
Don’t be fooled: Just because a candidate identifies as “Nonpartisan” DOES NOT mean they hold moderate or even independent views.
In the two School Board races on the ballot – in Leesburg and Broad Run – there are a total of six candidates, four of whom call themselves “nonpartisan.”
Give me a break!
Three of those nonpartisan candidates – Michael Rivera and Lauren Shernoff, in Leesburg, along with Tiffany Polifko in Broad Run – have expressed views skewing hard to the right of center when it comes to book banning, Critical Race Theory, equity, and the treatment of LGBTQ+ students. And the fourth candidate, Andrew Hoyler, is all over the map.
Only Nick Gothard in Broad Run and Erika Ogedegbe in Leesburg are openly representing nuanced, informed and constructive views consistent with democratic ideals and American history.

In Loudoun’s 2022 School Board races, “Nonpartisan” might as well be labeled “Republican Culture Warrior.”
