Spanberger Statement on Indictment of Former U.S. President Donald Trump

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement after the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office formally charged former U.S. President Donald Trump with 34 felony counts.

“Every American — including the former President — should be equal in the eyes of the law. As the criminal probe of former President Trump proceeds, I’m closely following developments both in New York City and across the country — and I want to thank the men and women of law enforcement and the U.S. Secret Service for their commitment to safety and order. At this unprecedented time, elected officials across the country must stand for the rule of law. Responsible lawmakers must lead by example and not use these events as an opportunity to stoke anger and division. This moment requires a calm focus on justice.”
