Take the Opposite of This Hard-Right Group’s Virginia Ratings To Know Who To Vote For…and Who NOT To Vote For

Back in September, I highlighted the NRA’s Virginia scorecard and argued that everyone should vote FOR those candidates who received “F” ratings from that extreme, 100% pro-gun organization, while voting AGAINST those candidates who received “A” or “B” ratings. Now, we have another scorecard by a hard-right group (the innocuously-named “Institute for Legislative Analysis,” an offshoot of faaar-right CPAC, the American Conservative Union, the Charles Koch Institute, etc.), and again it’s VERY revealing of who everyone should vote for (those who receive the lowest scores from this group) and who everyone should absolutely NOT vote for (those who receive the highest scores).

For instance, definitely do NOT vote for anyone with HIGH ratings from the Institute for Legislative Analysis, such as:

  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Del. Karen Greenhalgh (84.1% rating) in HD97; definitely DO vote for Democrat Michael Feggans instead!
  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Emily Brewer (82.4% rating) in SD17; definitely DO vote for Democrat Clint Jenkins (8.0% rating) instead!
  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Sen. David Suetterlein (71.7% rating) in SD04; definitely DO vote for Trish White-Boyd instead!
  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant (47.8%) in SD16; definitely DO vote for Democratic nominee, Del. Schuyler VanValkenburg (9.0% rating)!
  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Tara Durant (82.0%) in SD27; definitely DO vote for Democratic nominee, Joel Griffin (no rating), instead!
  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Del. Kimberly Taylor (66.7%) in HD82; definitely DO vote for Democratic nominee, Kimberly Pope Adams (no rating), instead!
  • Definitely do NOT vote for Republican Del. Carrie Coyner (67.4%) in HD75; definitely DO vote for Democratic nominee, Stephen Miller-Pitts (no rating), instead!

Definitely DO vote for folks (all Democrats, of course) with LOW ratings from the Institute for Legislative Analysis

  • Definitely DO vote for Democratic nominee, Nadarius Clark (3.7% rating), in HD84!
  • Definitely DO vote for Democratic incumbent/nominee, Del. Rodney Willett (6.9% rating), in HD58!
  • Definitely DO vote for Democratic nominee, Del. Danica Roem (11.2% rating), in SD30!
  • Definitely DO vote for Democratic incumbent/nominee, Sen. Monty Mason (21.7% rating), in SD24!

Also, obviously, don’t EVER vote for Rep. Bob Good (R-VA05), who gets a 100% score from this hard-right group; or for Reb. Ben Cline (R-VA06), who gets a 96% score; or for Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA09), who gets an 81% score; etc. And definitely DO vote for Sen. Tim Kaine, who gets a 5% score, next year, as well as Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA08), who gets a 4% score; Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA11), who gets a 4% score as well; and Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA03), who gets a 1% score.

We could go on with this, but you get the idea: if a candidate for Virginia House of Delegates or State Senate gets a high grade from a hard-right group like this one, that should be viewed as a strong POSITIVE; and if a candidate gets a HIGH grade from a group like this, it should be viewed as a very NEGATIVE thing. Vote accordingly!
