Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA08): “when Donald Trump plainly states his desire to be a lawless dictator, so many put their cult of personality above the Constitution”

Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA08) is 100% correct about this:

“If Joe Biden said this, Republicans would draft articles and impeach him by the end of the day. But when Donald Trump plainly states his desire to be a lawless dictator, so many put their cult of personality above the Constitution.”

Also 100% correct about Trump’s appalling, dangerous, disturbing comments is Ruth Ben-Ghiat, author of books like “Strongmen: From Mussolini to the Present” and an expert on fascism, authoritarianism, propaganda, etc. As Ben-Ghiat says:

“Trump is telling Americans very clearly that he will be jailing and killing Americans. Anyone who votes for him is complicit with these future crimes because of this transparency & these threats. Americans cannot say they did not know ahead of time.”

And it’s not just “anyone who votes for him” who is “complicit with these future crimes,” it’s also Republican elected officials  like Glenn Youngkin who meekly “fall in line” or even *enthusiastically* support Trump for president. Then there are those who stay silent, which is also completely unacceptable. Because at this point, Trump has made it CRYSTAL CLEAR that he wants to: a) be a dictator; b) destroy our democracy and rule of laws; c) take revenge on any/all of his perceived enemies; d) let Putin conquer Ukraine; e) destroy the planet’s environment; f) let powerful corporations run amok; g) strip women of their fundamental bodily autonomy; etc.

And no, none of this is a joke, and none of it is in the least bit exaggerated (if you think it is, you are delusional and/or completely ignorant). So…get involved/active NOW in defending our democracy, in reelecting President Joe Biden, and in stopping this authoritarian nutjob – before it’s too late.
