From the DNC:
If you’re looking for a heads-up on the message JD Vance will lay out tonight at the VP debate, look no further than who he chose to help prepare him for it: noted Project 2025 contributor Monica Crowley and other far-right MAGA lackeys backing their extreme agenda.
The reality is even before he went into debate prep with a Project 2025 contributor, Vance made it clear that he’s running with Donald Trump to enact the Project 2025 agenda.
Vance has spent this entire campaign applauding the “good ideas” in Project 2025’s radical blueprint in between lavishing praise on Project 2025 architects and begging for cash from key Project 2025 leaders. One even admitted that “privately” Project 2025’s backers “were really rooting for” Vance to join Trump’s far-right ticket.
Tonight, we can expect to see Vance double down on the same toxic Project 2025 plans he’s supported all along – and here’s a quick reminder of why:
- Vance has claimed there are “good ideas” in Project 2025’s radical agenda and explicitly pushed policies that mirror some of its most extreme provisions.
- After Project 2025 leaders published a series of far-right essays echoing an extreme policy blueprint, Vance praised them as “admirable” and served as the keynote speaker at their release.
- Vance fundraised with a Project 2025 leader whose organization is explicitly “helping to implement” the Project 2025 agenda.
- Vance wrote a glowing book foreword praising Project 2025’s top architect with “violent” rhetoric calling for revolution.
- At least 140 former Trump administration officials are involved in crafting and pushing the Project 2025 agenda.
- After Trump picked Vance as his running mate, the lead author of Project 2025 admitted that “privately” they “were really rooting for [Vance]” to be the pick.
- The leader of the group spearheading the Project 2025 agenda has called their role “institutionalizing Trumpism” and said it’s what the Harris-Walz ticket is “running against.”
Here’s the truth (no embargo): no matter what Vance tries to say tonight on the debate stage, he and Trump have already shown us who they are when it comes to their close ties to Project 2025’s wildly unpopular agenda. And we know that if given the chance, they will enact their horrifying vision starting on Day One.
