Well THIS is sure going to be fun! LOL
“[Tuesday night], Republican leaders in SD-10 picked a Goochland site & changed the date of the mass meeting to select their nominee for McGuire’s Senate seat.”
There will be one location – the Goochland Rec Center – and it will take place Friday, Dec. 13. ‘We’ll have to go to one location to vote, which I think suppresses the vote…’ said Amanda Chase.”
Per VPAP, there are eight candidates – 7 Republicans (Duane Adams, former State Sen. Amanda Chase, Alex Cheatham, Luther Henry Cifers III, Jean Gannon, Bryan Paul Hamlet, Shayne Snavely) and 1 Democrat (Jack Trammell) – running for their respective party’s nomination for the SD10 seat being vacated by incumbent John McGuire, who is heading to the U.S. House representing VA05 (note: nearly four years ago, McGuire was photographed outside the U.S. Capitol on 1/6/21).
Also per VPAP, this sprawling district (Hanover, Powhatan, Louisa, Goochland, Fluvanna, etc.) is deep-red (Trump won it 63%-36% in the 2024 election), so whoever wins the Republican nomination will be the HEAVY favorite in the special election…whenever that ends up being held (first, McGuire has to resign his seat so that the election can be scheduled). That means SD10 will almost certainly be represented by a right-winger, the only question being how far-right and what “flavor” of craziness we’re talking about…
P.S. As several astute commenters have pointed out, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and in this case, Amanda Chase is almost certainly correct that having just one location for this Republican “mass meeting” constitutes voter suppression.
