See below for a press release from the Kimberly Pope Adams for House of Delegates campaign (for HD82). In 2023, Adams was the Democratic nominee in HD82, *barely* losing to Republican Kim Taylor by just 78 votes (14,286-14,208). This time around, let’s make sure Adams wins this majority-minority district, centered on Petersburg, given that it was won by Democrats in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022 (probably in 2024 as well – awaiting final results on that).

DINWIDDIE, VA — Lifelong Virginian and 2023 Democratic Nominee Kimberly Pope Adams announced on Tuesday her candidacy for Virginia’s House of Delegates District 82 with the support of top Democratic leadership in Virginia, including: Speaker Don Scott and gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger.
Speaker Don Scott released the following statement:
“Expanding our majority starts with Kimberly Pope Adams. As a lifelong Virginian, she understands the everyday struggles of her community — and she’s committed to making life more affordable for families in the 82nd District. Kimberly will fight to keep our streets safe, strengthen our schools, and create an economy that works for everyone. In the General Assembly, she’ll be a true advocate for her district, rural and urban alike, with a vision that brings real results.”
Gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger made the following statement: “Kimberly Pope Adams is a lifelong Virginian who understands the day-to-day challenges facing her community — and I’m proud to endorse her to serve in the House of Delegates. She understands that safe streets, strong schools, and a responsive state government are important to the people of the 82nd District. I have no doubt that Kimberly will be a champion for her district’s families, businesses, and farmers in the General Assembly.”
Kimberly Pope Adams expressed her gratitude, stating:
“I am proud to announce my candidacy for House of Delegates District 82, and honored to receive the endorsement of Speaker Scott and Congresswoman Spanberger. Having their early vote of confidence is a testament to their commitment to deliver for families across Virginia. This community means everything to me, and I am running to help bring back the jobs, opportunity, and prosperity all Virginians deserve.”
In 2023, Adams’ campaign was the most competitive General Assembly race in Virginia, falling short of defeating the incumbent by only 53 votes. The 82nd House District includes most of her home Dinwiddie County, parts of Prince George County, all of the City of Petersburg, and all of Surry County.
