Here are a few international, national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Tuesday, ELECTION DAY 2024. So obviously, if you haven’t voted already, make sure you do so – blue, up and down the ballot of course. And if you know anybody who still hasn’t voted Democratic, maybe give them a friendly nudge to get to the polls? It’s not an exaggeration to say that our democracy and futures depend on what happens today. Good luck to all of us! Oh, and NEVER forget or forgive the Glenn Youngkins of the world, who threw themselves behind fascism lock, stock and barrel (in Youngkin’s case, because he’s a right wingnut and also because he mostly cares about power for HIMSELF). Beyond disgusting.
- Returning Grazing Land to Native Forests Would Yield Big Climate Benefits (“Removing cattle from carbon-rich soils in the eastern U.S. and western Europe while intensifying production elsewhere could drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions, with little hit to global protein production, a new study shows.”)

Trump “swerved?” THAT Is the word they chose, out of so many other possible words, to describe Trump’s appalling rhetoric and behavior? Seriously, F*** the WaPo and most of the political “mainstream media”)
- More than 78 million ballots have been cast early this year. Here are 3 takeaways from pre-election voting (“Four years ago, more than 110 million Americans voted early in person or by mail – roughly 70% of everyone who voted in that election. We won’t know the final total number of 2024 voters for weeks, until all results are fully counted, but pre-election voting is expected to make up closer to 50% of all ballots – a split in the electorate that is more similar to the 2022 midterms.”)
- Women Can Put Kamala Harris Over the Top (“Yes, the polls are excruciatingly close, but I expect women voters, motivated by Roe’s demise and Trump’s misogyny, to help elect the first female president of the United States.”)
