UPDATE 10:14: Okay, folks, it’s going to come down to the Blue Wall, as we knew it would, and we are not going to know those results anytime soon. So feel free to meditate and go to bed. We are still in a good position to win, we are just at the place the pollsters said we’d be at, pretty much, rather than the most optimistic projections we were hoping for. The important thing is to win, whether it is painful and ugly or not!
UPDATE 9:45: On the good news side, Maryland passes statewide constitutional protection for abortion, and Michigan’s Supreme Court flips Democratic. On the not-so-good side, the WaPo is projecting Trump will win Georgia – though it is still a bit too early to call it.
UPDATE 9:14: Florida shows how to win by rigging the game – 57% of voters vote to protect abortion but 60% was required to win.
UPDATE 8:48: Hearing that the Maryland Senate race has been called for Democrat Angela Alsobrooks, a relief as her opponent former Ggovernor Larry Hogan is a popular figure. Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester from Delaware will be the first black women Senators from their respective states – welcome!
UPDATE 8:30: NBC has called North Carolina Governor’s race for sane Democrat Josh Stein against looney tunes Republican Mark Robinson.
UPDATE 8:21: No surprise, but glad to see NJ Democratic Rep. Andy Kim, who gained fame when he got to work cleaning up the Capitol building after January 6th, winning his race to join the Senate – a welcome new face.
UPDATE 8:03: Okay, Florida has disappointed Democrats again – already called for both Trump and Sen. Rick Scott (yuck)
UPDATE 7:54: Just to be clear, I will not be posting much until real results start rolling in – no, 12% of the race in a state tells you little unless you delve deeply into which part of the state is reporting, etc. The swing states we are starting to get results from are Georgia and North Carolina, so…stay tuned.

While Lowell covers what’s happening in Virginia’s elections tonight, I will be keeping an eye on the national picture as it comes into sharper focus. Lots of big questions we’ll be looking to answer tonight, like:
- Will woman voters give Trump a big spanking, whether he likes it or not?
- Will Latino voters throw the GOP ticket in the garbage?
- How many shenanigans will Republicans (and Putin, etc.) try to pull tonight, and will any of them have any impact?
- Might Hakeem Jeffries be in position after tonight to become the next Speaker of the House?
- Will Dems get any lucky breaks allowing them to maintain control of the Senate – e.g., might we finally have a shot at dislodging the egregious Ted Cruz?
Lots of other stuff I’ll be looking at, and I welcome your comments and observations as well. In the meantime, as you gather your election news, please make sure to follow only high quality news sources, like…The Onion!
