From the DNC War Room:

Trump’s Closing Message: Claiming He “Shouldn’t Have Left” the White House and More Threats of Violence Against Americans

In response to Donald Trump’s closing message claiming he “shouldn’t have left” the White House and more threats of violence against his fellow Americans, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:

“Donald Trump is closing out his campaign by telling the American people exactly what he has planned in a second term: threats of violence against the media, attacks on our democracy, and claiming he ‘shouldn’t have left’ the White House after he lost by over seven million votes in 2020. Trump’s unhinged ramblings and dangerous rhetoric confirm what those closest to him have already told us: he is completely unfit to lead and would put our democracy and the rule of law at risk if given a chance.”

Donald Trump spent today talking about violence against the media and claiming he “shouldn’t have left” the White House after losing in 2020.

Trump: “Somebody would have to shoot through the fake news. And I don’t mind that.”

Trump“I shouldn’t have left [the White House]. I mean, honestly.”

TRUMP-VANCE TICKET’S CLOSING MESSAGE: dangerous, violent rhetoric and attacks on American citizens:

  • Donald Trump said that former Congresswoman Liz Cheney should have guns “trained on her face” and be fired upon, which the former congresswoman said was akin to a death threat.
  • Trump threatened to weaponize the National Guard and military against American citizens to destroy the “enemy from within.”
  • JD Vance attempted to lie and cover for Trump’s “enemy from within” comments, confirming he does “agree with” Trump and attacking American citizens as a bigger threat than any “foreign adversary.”
  • Vance said “of course” Trump amplifying threats to put American citizens before a war tribunal doesn’t sound “fascistic” to him.
  • Vance repeatedly dismissed reports of John Kelly calling Trump a “fascist” and revealing Trump’s envy of Hitler’s generals, saying people should “shut the hell up about what happened four years ago.”
