VA-07 Congressman-Elect Eugene Vindman Endorses Spanberger for Governor of Virginia

Vindman: “Abigail’s Determination and Drive is What Virginia Needs Now More Than Ever”

RICHMOND, Va. — U.S. Representative-elect Eugene Vindman (VA-07) today endorsed U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger to serve as the 75th Governor of Virginia.

In November 2024, voters in Virginia’s Seventh District elected Vindman to succeed Spanberger as their voice in the U.S. House of Representatives. In his endorsement, Vindman reflected on how Spanberger’s record of results in Congress, her reputation for bringing people together, and her tested leadership skills will make her an effective Governor.

“Abigail Spanberger’s career embodies service — to our communities, our Commonwealth, and our country. Over the course of three terms, she epitomized what it means to lead with integrity and courage in the halls of Congress. She showed up everywhere; she listened to competing views to find common ground, even when it was hard; and she never forgot the people she was elected to serve: the people of Virginia,” said Vindman. “Across the Seventh District, I witnessed how she connects with everyday Virginians. Abigail’s determination and drive is what Virginia needs now more than ever. I know Abigail will be an outstanding Governor. ”

Vindman’s endorsement demonstrates growing support for Spanberger’s campaign for stronger schools, safer communities, a more affordable Virginia, and a Commonwealth where the rights of all Virginians are protected.

“As we build this campaign, I’m honored to earn the support of my friend Eugene, a devoted father and husband who cares deeply about Virginia’s future. His story — fleeing the Soviet Union as a child, serving in the U.S. Army for 25 years, and soon continuing his service to our country as a Representative in Congress — is one that reminds us of the promise of America,” said Spanberger. “The greatest honor of my life has been to serve the people of Virginia’s Seventh District, but I know that our communities will continue to benefit from Eugene’s steady and principled leadership. I’m grateful for his support to serve as the next Governor of our Commonwealth, and I’m proud to be able to refer to Eugene as ‘Congressman-elect.’”

A wide range of elected officials from all corners of the Commonwealth of Virginia have endorsed Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia. Most recently, Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates Don Scott endorsed her campaign.

Spanberger has also been endorsed by Teamsters Joint Council 83, Clean Virginia, Emily’s List, VoteVets, Brady PAC, End Citizens United // Let America Vote, and GIFFORDS.

BACKGROUND

Spanberger is serving her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. In Congress, she serves on the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. Before Congress, Spanberger served as a federal law enforcement officer — working narcotics and money laundering cases — and as a CIA case officer — working undercover on counterterrorism and nuclear counterproliferation cases.

She and her husband Adam are the proud parents of three school-aged daughters.
