Video: At a Rally in Support of NOAA Employees, Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA08) Says We Need to Drive Down Trump’s Approval Ratings, Adds, “Elon Musk’s are already in the toilet – please don’t buy a Tesla!”

See below for video and highlights of Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA08)’s remarks this morning at a rally in Silver Spring, MD in support of NOAA employees, under assault (for absolutely ZERO good reason) by Trump/Musk/DOGE.

  • “First, thank you for letting a Virginian come to stand with you against Donald Trump’s and Elon Musk’s clearly illegal actions…This is about taking NOAA and the National Weather Service and privatizing it…lots and lots of money from the federal government to Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and we just cannot let this happen.”
  • “Everything that we depend upon, all the word about the hurricanes and tornadoes and the ‘snowpocalypse’ and ‘snowmaggedon’ and the blizzard of ’96 and the derechos, all of that comes from you…This affects everybody in this country.”
  • “It is incredibly important…that we stand up to Donald Trump in every way that we possibly can…We have lots of tools at our disposal…as members of Congress, we’re going to use every tool that we possibly have to defend you…Because this taking about the federal government that serves every one of us and turning it over to the DOGE kids makes no sense whatsoever.”
  • “…as American people, the best way to defeat Donald Trump is to push back on this narrative that he is somehow making America great again. His ability to lead is totally dependent on public sentiment, and public sentiment can only be changed by you and by me…As we drive his numbers down, and Elon Musk’s are already in the toilet – please don’t buy a Tesla! – in doing that, we undermine him, because we have so far seen absolutely no courage from our Republican friends…They will move when the American public moves.”
