Video: Federal Workers Rip Winsome Earle-Sears for “downplaying, dismissing, and laughing off the devastating situation many Virginians are in right now”

Former Federal Workers and American Federation of Government Employees Respond to Audio of Winsome Earle-Sears Dismissing Attacks on Virginia Jobs

VIRGINIA – Today, former federal workers and American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) denounced Winsome Earle-Sears for dismissing attacks on Virginia jobs as not a “huge thing” while thousands of Virginians are at risk of losing their jobs.

This follows Meidas Touch reporting new audio of Sears saying “it happens all the time” and “the media is making it out to be a huge, huge thing… and I don’t understand why.”

“From defending Trump’s attacks on Virginia jobs to saying she would help him ‘get the job done’ to her more recent comments downplaying the severity of losing a job, Winsome Earle-Sears isn’t on the side of Virginians, ” said Christine Surrette, AFGE District 4 National Vice President, former Department of Veterans Affairs employee. 

“Virginians should be able to trust that the leaders they elect will fight for them, not mock them. Winsome Earle-Sears has proved again and again that she’s not interested in standing up for the Commonwealth,” said Ottis Johnson, AFGE District 14 National Vice President. 

“Every day, Virginians are facing potential layoffs through no fault of their own. For Winsome Earle-Sears to say what they are going through is not ‘a huge deal’ is dismissive and proves that she can’t be trusted to fight for Virginia,” said Monique Samuels, President of Local 1992, which represents workers at Defense Logistics Agency. 

“After weeks of refusing to stand up for Virginia workers and veterans who rely on VA for care, Sears has gone a step farther now downplaying, dismissing, and laughing off the devastating situation many Virginians are in right now.” said Sheila Elliott, President of Local 2328 which represents workers at Department of Veterans Affairs.

Winsome Earle-Sears has dismissed and laughed off attacks on Virginia jobs over and over again.

• Winsome Earle-Sears was caught on tape dismissing and laughing off the attacks on Virginia jobs saying “the media is making it out to be a huge, huge thing… and I don’t understand why.”

• Instead of standing up to attacks on Virginia jobs, Sears told Virginians facing layoffs “don’t fret.”

• Sears also said “just about everybody has lost a job … It is life happening.” 

Winsome Earle-Sears has defended Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s workforce and economy.

• She told the Associated Press that she backed Trump’s efforts and she doubled down.

• She also said Virginians facing layoffs will “be all right.”

• The Youngkin-Sears administration’s response to workers at risk of losing their jobs was “update your resume.”

•  As Donald Trump attacked Virginia’s workforce and economy, Sears declared she would help Trump “get the job done” if she were governor.

• Sears has also said “I’m supporting what the President is doing.”

The few resources Sears offered to help Virginians ended up being broken links that led to “404 Page Not Found” website errors.
