Compare/Contrast VA Speaker Don Scott’s (and Other VA Dems’) Classy, Appropriate Memorial Day Statements with Trump’s…Whatever the He** That Is

8

See below for statements by Virginia Democrats on Memorial Day 2025 (I’ll add more as I see them). Compare/contrast to our warped president’s insane, nasty, no-class statement. It’s really, really striking…and disturbing to think that we have to somehow survive this raving lunatic, Donald Trump, for nearly four more years…ugh.

Speaker Don Scott Statement on Memorial Day

Richmond, VA – Virginia Speaker of the House of Delegates, Don Scott, a Navy veteran, released the following statement on Memorial Day:

“There is no higher honor than raising your right hand to serve this country—and no greater sacrifice than laying down your life in its defense. On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom, our safety, and our future.

“As a Navy veteran, I know what it means to stand the watch. I’ve stood it alongside shipmates who were ready to give their lives for this nation. Today, we honor those whose watch has ended. Their duty is done. It’s now on us to carry their memory and live lives worthy of their sacrifice. We will never forget their courage.”

Spanberger Statement Ahead of Memorial Day

RICHMOND, Va — Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement ahead of Memorial Day 2025.

“Our Commonwealth has a proud record of service to America’s founding principles and our common purpose. Without hesitation, Virginians have always answered the call to protect the promise of our nation — many even giving their lives for that promise.

“This weekend, we remember these Virginians who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms. We owe them our deepest gratitude for their immeasurable courage, heroism, and uncommon valor. I stand with Virginians across our Commonwealth as we remember those who never returned home.

“This Memorial Day, I am also thinking of the Virginians who have been lost to a service-connected injury or illness, Veterans who have died by suicide, and those who remain missing in action in foreign fields. And I am holding our Commonwealth’s Gold Star mothers, fathers, siblings, and spouses in my heart.

“Our American values are worth protecting. I am forever grateful for the bravery of these Virginians and Americans, whose lives are forever marked by their sense of commitment to their country and devotion to a higher purpose.”

Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA08): “Memorial Day honors the servicemembers who lost their lives fighting for our country. They gave everything so we could live in a democracy, and we owe it to them to protect that democracy from those who are taking advantage of it.”

Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-VA07): “Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy are only possible through sacrifice. Today, we honor the memory, courage, and commitment of those who lost their lives in service to something greater than themselves…As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I’m committed to supporting the heroes who serve and caring for the families of those who have fallen. That means investing in our military, strengthening veterans’ services, and never forgetting the price of freedom.”

Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA03): “Today, we remember and honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service of our country.”
