RICHMOND, Va. — Today, Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger released the first TV and digital ad in her campaign to serve as the next Governor of Virginia, “Listen.”
The ad highlights Spanberger’s record of public service, her ability to find common ground to get things done, and her commitment to lowering costs for Virginia families and making the Commonwealth’s schools the best in America.
Last week, Spanberger announced her plan to make Virginia more affordable, including by lowering healthcare and prescription drug costs.

Abigail Spanberger: Too many politicians talk when they should listen.
And divide instead of unite.
Enough is enough. I’m Abigail Spanberger. I believe that public service is too important for political nonsense. That’s what my parents taught me.
My mom was a nurse. My dad went to college on the G.I. Bill and spent his career in law enforcement.
When I was in law enforcement … and then working counterterrorism at CIA, we didn’t do politics. We did our jobs.
I broke down some of the divides, stood up to both parties, and was named the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia.
As Governor, I’ll work to lower costs, let people keep more of their money, and make Virginia schools the best in the nation.
Because as a mom of three girls in public school, I know the future of our Commonwealth matters so much more than any petty political fight. So I’ll always put Virginia first.
V/O: Spanberger for Governor. Service. Country. Commonwealth.

BACKGROUND
Abigail Spanberger has always served our communities, our Commonwealth, and our country — first as a federal law enforcement officer, working narcotics and money laundering cases. Then, she served as a CIA case officer, working undercover on counterterrorism and nuclear counterproliferation cases — as well as tracking transnational criminal organizations.
In 2018, Spanberger became the first Democrat since 1968 elected to serve Virginia’s Seventh District in Congress. During her time in the U.S. House, she was consistently ranked as the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia.
Abigail and her husband Adam are the proud parents of three school-aged daughters in Virginia public schools. Spanberger graduated from J.R. Tucker High School in Henrico County and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
