Video: Abigail Spanberger Says “job number one of the governor is to stand up for Virginia” – and It’s “outrageous to me” That Winsome Earle-Sears Isn’t Doing That

Spanberger says Earle-Sears showing "a lack of seriousness or even a lack of focus on the things that matter to Virginians"

See below for video and highlights from Simon Rosenberg’s interview with Abigail Spanberger. As Rosenberg says, correctly:

“Simply, the VA elections are the most important elections we have this year, and we must win them. We have narrow majorities in both legislative chambers and while Spanberger has a modest lead in current polling, this is going to be a close race where our money and volunteer time can make a real difference.”

And now, here’s some of what Abigail Spanberger had to say:

“It’s extraordinary. And again, I will go back to my opponent – just like I am, we are running for governor of Virginia,  where there are more than 320,000 federal employees, not to mention all the contractors who are impacted, all the other businesses – and my opponent’s approach to these attacks on the federal workforce has been to say, well you know everybody loses a job, it happens to all of us, don’t fret. She has expressed that there were plenty of jobs in the private sector for people to move to. And she’s missing the point. The point is that in fact, this is an attack on our workforce, it’s an attack on Virginia’s economy. And while like…I recognize that perhaps her position might not be one that wants to run afoul of the president, the reality is the president’s choices are hurting our state, the president’s choices are hurting Virginia. And the job number one of the governor is to stand up for Virginia. And so it is just outrageous to me that not only would she lack empathy, but even from a brass tacks standpoint, she wouldn’t be defending Virginians or our economy. And so it’s to me, it is I think indicative of what I would consider to be a lack of seriousness or even a lack of focus on the things that matter to Virginiaians. But it’s a dire time in Virginia, is the reality on the ground…

Bingo!
