FACT CHECK: Virginia Republicans Coyner and Taylor Claim to Support Contraception—Their Voting History Says…That’s A Lie
Richmond, VA — In an act of political desperation, Carrie Coyner (R‑Chesterfield) and Kim Taylor (R‑Dinwiddie) are trying to rewrite history. In a recent op-ed, the pair claim to support protecting “women’s access to critical medical care” including IVF—despite voting against a constitutional amendment to enshrine those very same rights.

After aligning themselves with the Republican party’s extreme agenda, Coyner and Taylor are now scrambling to rebrand as moderates—even joining the so-called “Purple Caucus” to soften their image. But Virginians won’t be fooled. You can’t vote against reproductive freedom and then pretend to support it when it’s politically convenient.

Coyner and Taylor want credit for supporting reproductive rights, but when it came time to vote, they said no. No to protecting access to birth control. No to safeguarding IVF. No to ensuring families—not politicians—make these deeply personal decisions. Their votes tell the real story. Virginians know the truth and no amount of grandstanding will change that.
