See below for a press release from the Democratic Party of Virginia about John Reid saying the prospect of 300,000 Virginians potentially losing their health care due to Trump’s budget/tax bill is “not my immediate problem.” Note that Reid has also stated, previously:

  • “Just for the record: 322,000 Virginia CITIZENS are NOT losing federal benefits with the Big Beautiful Bill.”
  • “My healthcare stinks… hate it… and hate even more that I am paying more and more for other people to get free healthcare.”
  • Healthcare “is an individual bill that all working age citizens should accept as their own personal and patriotic responsibility.”
  • “It does NOT impress me to promise to take my income to pay for a product I already buy and give it to someone else when they could and should buy it themselves. Sorry, not sorry.”

John Reid Says 300,000 Virginians Losing Health Care Is “Not My Immediate Problem”

During a recent interview on The John Fredericks Show, Republican nominee for lieutenant governor John Reid dismissed concerns over 300,000 Virginians potentially losing health care because of Trump’s tax bill, stating that it is “not my immediate problem.”

“John Reid doesn’t think 300,000 Virginians losing access to health care is his ‘immediate problem.’ If you’re running to be lieutenant governor, the health and well-being of hundreds of thousands of Virginians is your problem,” said DPVA Communications Director Kelsey Carolan. “Virginians deserve to know why Reid doesn’t care about their access to life-or-death health care.”

John Reid: “I don’t want to run out of time without bringing up the number one thing that I’m getting hit with on the campaign trail. It’s not my immediate problem, but the Democrats are certainly trying to make it that way, is that supposedly 300,000 Virginians will lose health care coverage…”
