Two Articles About Winsome Earle-Sears to DEFINITELY Check Out This Morning: One in the American Conservative, Another by the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Opinions Editor

Earle-Sears targets kids, "has missed the moment"

7

Doing my morning news clips, I saw two articles about Winsome Earle-Sears that I definitely recommend everyone check out this morning.  The first is in the Richmond Times-Dispatch (“Earle-Sears targets MAGA’s latest political demon: kids“) by that paper’s Opinions Editor, Scott Bass. Here are a few excerpts.

  • “If parents were concerned that the new school year would usher in a fresh batch of hatred and discrimination in our already over-politicized classrooms, well, meet Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.”
  • “Never mind that transgender and nonbinary students are far more likely to be targets of harassment and sexual assault”
  • “If you’re a parent of a school-aged, cisgender child, somewhere between the ages of 13 and 17, ask yourself: When was the last time they came home and complained of being threatened, bullied or assaulted by a transgender or nonbinary student?”
  • “And let’s be honest: This was never about protecting girls from “biological males” invading their locker rooms; fewer than 10 trans girls were even permitted to play on girls teams in Virginia from 2020 to 2024, according to the Virginia High School League. And earlier this year, the VHSL reversed its policy — trans girls are no longer allowed to switch teams.
  • “This is about politics, pure and simple. Trans kids aren’t threatening cisgender girls. They’re simply trying to find their place in a world that keeps rejecting them.”

The second article to definitely check out is in The American Conservative, of all places; an article entitled, “Earle-Sears Is Four Years Late for the Outrage Cycle: Signgate shows that Virginia’s Republican candidate for governor has missed the moment.” Here are a couple highlights, but definitely check out the entire article:

  • “But 2025 is not 2021. And though the threat of transgender bathrooms will always loom large for the socially conservative wing of the Virginia electorate, the greatest concern facing voters in the state is the cost of living. In the latest round of polling conducted by the Wilder School at Virginia Commonwealth University in August, 30 percent of Virginia voters say they are most concerned with the cost of living, which has only increased in the first eight months of the new Trump administration. Second on the list of concerns for Virginia voters is reproductive rights—a topic that is near and dear to the pro-life Earle-Sears, and one that she has mostly avoided on the campaign trail. Her support for a 15-week ban on abortion is wildly out of step with Virginia’s increasingly liberal and secular electorate.”
  • “In reality, it was a story without legs that had already come and gone. At time of writing, heading into the weekend, it is unlikely to receive even passing coverage. In fact, besides her one statement sans picture, Signgate was already old news by Friday morning as the media turned its attention toward FBI agents who raided the home of the former National Security Advisor John Bolton. In the recent past, Signgate would’ve precipitated days if not weeks of outrage with Fox News leading the charge. But not this year—not in 2025.”
  • “No greater example of Earle-Sears’s sputtering, out-of-tune campaign could be made if she had tried to sabotage her big shot at currying new favor among the Republican base in Virginia.”

In short, this was not a great morning news cycle for Winsome Earle-Sears, who is trying to reboot her hot mess of a campaign after a summer of division, distraction, poor fundraising, bad polling, etc, etc.  – by attempting to recreate the nastiest, most dishonest parts of Youngkin’s 2021 campaign (demonizing “CRT,” trans kids, etc.), but without Youngkin’s money, lack of political record (so he could be all things to all people, with the help of a comletely incompetent/worthless media), baggage or unpopular Democrat in the White House. I’d say “good luck with that,” except I don’t wish the horrible Earle-Sears campaign good luck in any way, shape or form, except “good luck losing by double digits, if at all possible!
