Walkinshaw Hosts Rahm Emanuel, Local Leaders & Housing Advocates for Affordable Housing Roundtable
Fairfax, VA — Fairfax County Supervisor and Democratic nominee for Virginia’s 11th District James Walkinshaw (D-Braddock) hosted Rahm Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff, Mayor of Chicago, and U.S. Ambassador to Japan, for an Affordable Housing Roundtable.

The event brought together housing advocates and local, state, and national leaders to confront rising housing costs driven by Trump’s reckless policies and to foster solutions that will expand affordable housing across Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
“I was proud to serve in Congress, as a member of House Leadership, and as the party’s lead candidate recruiter. I have never seen a person who is more prepared to represent his constituents on day one than James Walkinshaw,” said Rahm Emanuel.
“I’m honored by Rahm Emanuel’s support and grateful for the expertise he, Chairman Jeff McKay, Delegate Briana Sewell, and our housing advocates brought to our roundtable,” said Supervisor Walkinshaw. “Fairfax is on track to deliver 10,000 new affordable housing units by 2034, but Trump’s harmful policies and indiscriminate DOGE cuts are squeezing families harder every day. In Congress, I’ll be ready on day one to build on Fairfax’s success and back bipartisan solutions like the Road to Housing Act to ensure every Virginia family has a safe and affordable place to call home.”
Early voting for the VA-11 Special Election is underway across Fairfax and will continue through September 6.
Residents can vote early or cast their ballot on Election Day, September 9.
