Retired Virginia Beach Deputy Police Chief John Bell: “Abigail Spanberger Stands for Safety and Security”

The Virginia Police Benevolent Association — Representing Nearly 11,000 Virginia Law Enforcement Officers — Endorsed Spanberger in August

RICHMOND, Va. — Today, Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger — a former federal law enforcement officer — released a new TV and digital ad featuring Virginia law enforcement officers explaining why they trust Spanberger to protect Virginians as their next Governor.

The new ad, titled “Stand With Her,” focuses on Spanberger’s career of public service, work as a federal agent — including to investigate child abusers and predators, and her commitment to keeping families safe as Virginia’s next Governor. Additionally, the ad underscores Spanberger’s deep roots in public service, shaped by her experience growing up in a military and law enforcement family — highlighted by Spanberger’s recent ad, “Dad.”

Last month, the Virginia Police Benevolent Association (VAPBA) — the largest police union in Virginia representing nearly 11,000 law enforcement officers — endorsed Spanberger for Governor. The announcement marked the first time the organization endorsed a Democratic candidate for Governor since 2009. In 2021, the VAPBA endorsed the full Republican statewide ticket — including then Lieutenant Governor nominee and current Republican Governor nominee, Winsome Earle-Sears.

Bell: Abigail Spanberger stands for safety and security.

Jenkins: And we stand with her.

Mathieson: Spanberger for Governor.
