Thanks to Sam Shirazi for this analysis:
- “First batch of campaign finance in thanks to @vpapupdates. Only John Reid and Jason Miyares in for statewide campaigns. Reid raised $375K and has $317K COH. Miyares raised $3.7M and has $7M COH. Miyares has strong numbers but running mate lagging behind. Top of ticket still out.”
- “David Owen in HD-57 raised $266K and has $317K COH. No numbers yet for Dem opponent May Nivar. Doesn’t look like GOP is willing to “triage” him. Although risks what happened with Siobhan Dunnavant in 2023 in Western Henrico. GOP spending on incumbent in very rough race.”
- “To the extent GOP has “triaged” anyone, it is challengers to incumbent Dems. HD-21 was closest Dems held seat in 2021. GOP candidate raised just $12K and has $626 COH. GOP candidate in HD-84 had decent haul of $52K and $74K COH. But not numbers needed to flip seat”
