RICHMOND, Va. — The Spanberger for Governor campaign today released a new TV and digital ad highlighting Winsome Earle-Sears’ long record of opposing reproductive rights for Virginia women — including supporting a near-total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.
The new ad, titled “Wicked” highlights how Sears has said she “can’t support abortion,” as well as her support for making abortion a felony and calling abortion “wicked.” Earlier this year, Sears left a handwritten note saying she is “morally opposed” to the proposed constitutional amendment protecting reproductive freedom in Virginia — including access to contraception, abortion, and IVF. Also this year, she voted against the Right to Contraception Act.
As Sears refuses to protect the fundamental freedoms of Virginia women, Spanberger will always stand up for Virginians’ fundamental rights. As the next Governor of Virginia, she has said she will sign the Right to Contraception Act into law and has expressed her strong support for Virginia’s proposed constitutional amendment.
