From the VA House Democratic Caucus:
| Virginia House Democrats Reelect Proven Leadership to Guide 64-Member Majority |
| RICHMOND, VA — On Sunday, November 9, after historic election gains that expanded the Democratic majority to 64 seats, members of the Virginia House Democratic Caucus unanimously reelected by acclamation Speaker Don Scott, Leader Charniele Herring, and Chair Kathy Tran to continue leading the Caucus into the 2026 legislative session — a vote that reaffirmed the Caucus’ confidence in their steady and results-driven leadership.
“It’s been the honor of my life to serve as Speaker, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for their trust and partnership,” said Speaker Don Scott. “Leadership isn’t about titles — it’s about service. Together, we’ve shown what’s possible when we lead with purpose and put people first. I’m ready to keep doing the work Virginians elected us to do — expanding opportunity, protecting freedoms, and delivering results for every community.” “I’m honored to continue serving as Majority Leader and proud of the progress this Caucus has delivered for Virginia families,” said Leader Herring. “We’ve proven that when Democrats lead, we lead with compassion, competence, and conviction. Our focus remains on getting things done — strengthening our schools, lowering costs, protecting freedoms, and making government work for the people it serves.” “It’s a privilege to continue serving as Caucus Chair and to help guide our members into this next chapter,” said Chair Kathy Tran. “I’m excited to continue to collaborate with Speaker Scott and Majority Herring and all of our Caucus members to deliver a bold, forward-looking agenda that puts Virginians first.” “This leadership team represents the best of Virginia — experienced, visionary, and focused on results,” said Jenner Foster, Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus. “With Speaker Scott, Leader Herring, and Chair Tran at the helm, House Democrats are ready to keep Virginia moving forward — protecting freedoms, strengthening our economy, and delivering real results for working families.” |
