From former Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02), who’s running to take back this seat from the deplorable Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA02), most definitely NOT a “moderate” in any way/shape/form.
Rep. Luria Releases Statement on Jen Kiggans’ Refusal to Make Health Care More Affordable
Kiggans refused to sign a petition that would extend ACA subsidies for millions of Americans
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Today, Rep. Elaine Luria released the following statement in response to Jen Kiggans’ refusal to sign a bipartisan measure backed by a majority of members of Congress that would extend the ACA tax credits and make health care more affordable for Coastal Virginians:
“Jen Kiggans’ refusal to join the majority of her colleagues on a bipartisan measure to extend the ACA tax credits is unacceptable and will have devastating consequences for Coastal Virginians. This is just the latest example of Kiggans treating health care for millions of Americans as a political game and failing to stand up to protect our community when it matters most. She continues to make clear that she does not care about addressing the rising cost of living and the issues that matter most to Hampton Roads. People are hungry for change, and I look forward to getting back to work to make life more affordable for working families, cut health care costs, grow our economy, and strengthen our military.”
Vulnerable Republican Rep. Jen Kiggans has established a pattern of promising Virginians one thing in public, only to turn around and vote the other way in Washington. Kiggans lied when she promised to protect access to health care, only to turn around and vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. Kiggans lied again when she promised to protect clean energy tax credits, but then “flip-flopped” and voted to take a “sledgehammer” to the credits instead. Kiggans has voted 100% of the time with Donald Trump – demonstrating that she puts her D.C. party bosses ahead of the Virginians she claims to represent.
