Two weekends ago, we showed up— 8 million strong for No Kings demonstrations across the country. Now, we need to win where it counts: at the ballot box. On April 21, Virginia will vote on a redistricting referendum that, if it passes, will shape the midterm map and help unlock up to four new Democratic seats in 2026.
Early voting is underway in this Vote Yes campaign; we have just over 2 weeks to win this special election.
The opposition is trying to confuse voters by twisting things President Barack Obama and Governor Abigail Spanberger have said in the past and make it seem as if they don’t support this amendment. THAT IS UNTRUE! Both leaders support Virginia’s temporary redistricting. And while ads pushing back on misinformation matter—President Obama has stepped up to definitively state his support—ads alone won’t win this election. We win by talking to voters: at the door, on the phone, and in our communities.
This measure is a chance to push back on power grabs and protect our elections – but it’s more than a defensive tactic. It’s an opportunity to unite urban and rural communities. It’s an opportunity for all voters’ voices to be heard by people running for Congress in districts that will require them to visit, spend time, listen, and respond to voters’ concerns. It’s an opportunity for citizens from different parts of the Commonwealth to learn about and better understand the challenges we each face. Virginia’s redistricting can strengthen our Democratic coalition, expand representation, and incentivize Democratic leaders to listen to a broader Virginia.
This may not be a perfect solution. But it’s a perfect opportunity to build a stronger, more resilient, more knowledgeable party—and to demonstrate our Democratic ideals through real, concrete, courageous action. America is ripe for a non-violent revolution and in Virginia, we can lead it.
You can help make it happen by volunteering to talk to voters – now: sign up to canvass and phone bank: Vote.Yes.us
Now is the time to act—together—and win Virginia’s Vote Yes redistricting referendum.
