Good to see Gov. Abigail Spanberger cutting an ad for the redistricting amendment. As Gov. Spanberger says:
“I’m voting YES on Virginia’s redistricting amendment.
It’s directly in response to what other states decide to do — and a president who says he’s, quote, ‘entitled’ to more Republican seats before this year’s midterms.
Our approach is different. It’s temporary. It preserves Virginia’s fair redistricting process into the future.
At this extraordinary moment, I urge all Virginians to join me in voting YES by April 21.”

NEW: Governor Spanberger Hits the Airwaves Urging Virginians to Vote YES
New Ad “Extraordinary” Launches Statewide as Early Voting Is Underway
Richmond, Va. — Today, the YES Campaign is launching TV ads featuring Governor Abigail Spanberger across the Commonwealth urging Virginians to vote YES on the April 21 redistricting referendum.
As Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans attempt to rig the rules and lock in power ahead of the 2026 elections, Governor Spanberger is making clear that Virginia voters have a chance to push back — and ensure that elections are decided by voters, not MAGA politicians.
The seven-figure ad buy will begin airing statewide immediately, as early voting continues across the Commonwealth.
Transcript:
“I’m Governor Abigail Spanberger, and I’m voting YES on Virginia’s redistricting amendment.
“Governor Spanberger is making clear that Virginians must act in this moment,” said YES Campaign Manager Keren Charles Dongo. “This is a choice between letting Trump and MAGA politicians rig the system — or making sure voters have the final say. Voting YES is how Virginians stop Trump’s power grab and level the playing field.”
Governor Spanberger voted YES last week and is encouraging Virginians across the Commonwealth to do the same — to stop Trump’s power grab and ensure the 2026 midterms are decided on a level playing field.
Early voting is underway now through April 18, and Election Day is April 21.
About Virginians for Fair Elections
Virginians for Fair Elections is the campaign advocating for a constitutional amendment to protect fair representation and ensure Virginia voters — not politicians — have the final say over congressional district maps. The amendment is a temporary, emergency exception designed to level the playing field for Virginia’s congressional elections, with the Commonwealth’s bipartisan redistricting commission resuming full authority after the 2030 census.
