Video: After Interviewing Last Prison Guard to See Jeffrey Epstein Alive, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA10) Says “I do believe [Epstein] did commit suicide”

"It was clear incompetence and just a lack of oversight over Jeffrey Epstein that led to him being able to commit suicide"

Speaking after the interview this morning with Tova Noel (one of Jeffrey Epstein’s prison guards, who was “on duty when Jeffrey Epstein died in a New York City prison cell in August 2019… she believes she was the last person to see the convicted sex offender alive at the Metropolitan Correctional Center”), Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA10) – a member of the House Oversight Committee – said the following (h/t PBS NewsHour):

“…My takeaway is two things. One, the system once again failed survivors. They failed to to bring Jeffrey Epstein to justice. It was clear incompetence and just a lack of oversight over Jeffrey Epstein that led to him being able to commit suicide. I do believe he did commit suicide. I think that’s the only explanation for what happened based on the facts that we do have. But I do think he was treated differently from the other inmates. Jeffrey Epstein got special treatment in that facility. He got access to medications in a way no one else did. He got access to extra bed linens which helped him commit suicide. He got access to a CPAP machine which had a long cord. And so Jeffrey Epstein, just like Ghislaine Maxwell right now, was given special treatment in incarceration. That’s unacceptable and it’s something we need to change. The system is failing survivors. It’s failed them when Jeffrey Epstein  was able to commit suicide. It’s failing them now when Ghislaine Maxwell is in a minimum security prison like she is right now. And so we have to change this. Something needs to change right now…He was able to commit suicide because he was treated differently than the other people at that facility.  And so that there was both the incompetence of the system and the the system failing, which keeps happening to survivors, and then there’s the special treatment of the billionaire Epstein class, which happened here as well. And both of those things led to Jeffrey Epstein being able to choose to escape justice.”
