Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) PAC Endorses Terry McAuliffe for Governor

MCLEAN, VA – The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) PAC today endorsed Terry McAuliffe for governor of Virginia, citing Terry’s proven track record as Virginia’s 72nd Governor securing $10 billion in new transportation projects and his commitment to protecting transportation funding and plans to invest in Virginia’s infrastructure.

As the 72nd Governor of Virginia, Terry worked in a bipartisan way to invest in Virginia’s transportation infrastructure and drastically improved some of the most congested roadways in the nation. Terry secured nearly $1.5 billion in public and private capital for the Atlantic Gateway Project and the largest Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act loan in program history worth nearly $2 billion. His administration implemented SMART SCALE to take the politics out of transportation funding decisions, and reformed the Public-Private Transportation Act to protect taxpayer dollars. Terry leveraged private funding to build express lanes on I-66 without any requirement of upfront taxpayer investments.

As Virginia’s next governor, Terry will protect transportation funding and invest in Virginia’s infrastructure. He will build the best-in-the-nation workforce and address shortages by making higher education more affordable, expanding access to industry-specific credentials and certifications and investing in internships and apprenticeships. Meanwhile, Terry’s opponent would decimate key funding sources for transportation and infrastructure, driving Virginia’s economy straight into a ditch. In their endorsement of Terry for governor, the VTCA even cited how dangerous Glenn Youngkin’s plans would be for the Commonwealth.
