See below for video of Del. Danica Roem this morning, talking about her book, “Burn the Page,” on “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.” According to Del. Roem,
- “You and I know better than anyone that you can try telling LGBTQ kids that they’re not supposed to be themselves and it doesn’t work; it doesn’t make us un-trans or un-gay somehow. So now they’ve introduced more than 200 bills across the country attacking LGBTQ kids…”
- “Politicians who attack their constituents, especially their most vulnerable constituents, shouldn’t be politicians anymore. And the only way you fix that is by getting people to step up and run for office and unseat those politicians, just like I did in 2017.”
- “And by the way, I’ve been reelected in 2019, reelected in 2021. We’ve now passed 32 of my bills into law, including 10 to feed hungry kids, which is the exact opposite of what Sen. McConnell’s trying to right now…”
- “And I like to think right now that we’re in a position where we can demonstrate excellence within the LGBTQ community to people at large.”‘
- “And in this book, I’m also showing people what it’s like to be an unemployed, uninsured driver of a ’92 Dodge Shadow kicking off a campaign. Because politics isn’t just for the rich and powerful, it’s for us too.”
