VA House Dems Leader Don Scott Predicts That “voters are going to turn out this November and beat back anti-choice MAGA extremists just like they did in Ohio”

Great news from Ohio, a “Trump state,” where Republicans are getting their butts kicked tonight, in a “major victory for the pro-choice side,” as Dave Wasserman puts it. Bottom line: abortion was VERY MUCH on the ballot in the “red state” of Ohio, and the results this evening mark a major loss for the anti-abortion forces…yet AGAIN, just as we’ve seen in Kansas, Wisconsin, etc, etc.  

So what, if anything, might this mean for Virginia’s crucial elections this November, in which Glenn Youngkin et al are pushing for a governing “trifecta” so that they can roll back all the progress we’ve made, whether on voting rights, civil rights, the environment, LGBTQ equality, and…of course, abortion, which they want to ban or severely restrict? For starters, the key is for voters to understand that abortion will VERY MUCH be on the ballot this November in Virginia, and then vote accordingly (Democratic) in huge numbers. If so, then Virginia – a “bluer” state than Ohio – hopefully will see even better results than in the Buckeye State tonight, which would mean Democrats increasing our “blue wall” in the State Senate and taking back the House of Delegates! Of course, it’s up to all of us to make this happen, as none of it’s inevitable or self-actuating, but what’s happening in Ohio should give us all a wind at our backs and a spring in our steps as we head into election season. 🙂
