Freedom Virginia Announces 2025 Candidate Endorsements; “Backs Candidates Who Will Advance a Bold Economic Agenda in 2026 So Hardworking Virginians Can Get Ahead”

0

Check out the following press release from Freedom Virginia, with its 2025 candidate endorsements. Note that there are no Republicans on this list, because…well, obviously, if you want “a Commonwealth where all Virginia families have the freedom to thrive,” as Freedom Virginia’s mission statement says, the ONLY party that has any chance of making that happen is the *Democratic* Party – the Republican Party has gone completely off the deep end.

By the way, I’m not even going to link to Clean Virginia’s endorsements, given that they actually endorsed several Republicans, including a couple in districts that are winnable for Democrats. I mean, does Clean Virginia actually think that people like Mike Cherry, Joseph McNamara, Will Davis, Lee Ware, Amanda Batten and Carrie Coyner are friends of clean energy or clean government? Because there is literally ZERO chance that this is the case. Bizarre.

Advocacy Organization Backs Candidates Who Will Advance a Bold Economic Agenda in 2026 So Hardworking Virginians Can Get Ahead

RICHMOND, Va. — Freedom Virginia — a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to building a Commonwealth where all families have the financial freedom to thrive — today announced it is endorsing candidates in the 2025 statewide and House of Delegates races.

Freedom Virginia co-Executive Directors Rhena Hicks and Ryan O’Toole released the following statement:

“We are proud to support these champions for economic security and look forward to working with them to help them win as we communicate to voters their dedication to making Virginia more affordable for the middle class. We believe these candidates have the ability to engage uncommitted voters and advance legislative priorities that will ensure Virginians can keep more of what they earn and get ahead. These candidates are committed to affordability and have shown they will uphold Freedom Virginia’s values of advancing economic security through policies like lowering prescription drug costs, ensuring paid leave and a higher minimum wage, increasing access to affordable housing, and delivering relief for hardworking people through a fairer tax system.”

Freedom Virginia is endorsing the following statewide candidates:

  • Governor: Fmr. Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger
  • Lt. Governor: Senator Aaron Rouse
  • Attorney General: Fmr. Delegate Jay Jones

“These statewide candidates have a proven track record of fighting for Virginia’s middle class, not elite corporate interests,” said Rhena Hicks and Ryan O’Toole. “Whether it’s Congresswoman Spanberger’s record of protecting Virginians’ retirement savings and lowering the cost of medicine and her recent commitment to signing a bill expanding access to Paid Family and Medical Leave; Senator Rouse’s fight to make our tax code fairer and make medicine more affordable by taking on big drug companies and Pharmacy Benefit Managers; or Delegate Jones’ commitment to lower the cost of living by going after corporate price gougers, including landlords, grocery chains, and perpetrators of hidden fees, we believe this statewide ticket is meeting the moment of what voters want and need: big ideas that will be signed into law and help the middle class get rich, not billionaires.”

This year, Freedom Virginia advocated for a fairer tax system alongside other policies to ensure hardworking families can get ahead. These candidates have shown a commitment and willingness to build on the momentum made during the 2025 General Assembly session to build a fairer tax system for middle-class Virginia families, lower the cost of medicine, expand access to Paid Family and Medical Leave, ban hidden fees, and to build more affordable homes so consumers have more choices.
