| RICHMOND, VA — Today, Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates Don Scott called on Virginia General Assembly Republicans to publicly denounce a racist video reposted by Donald Trump that depicted former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.
Speaker Scott released the following statement:
“Republican leaders across the country have already denounced this racist post. Republican leaders in Virginia have not. This should not require a public statement, but here we are. What the President reposted was racist. Deleting it hours later without an apology does not erase the harm. I’m calling on Virginia General Assembly Republicans to simply do what’s right and denounce this garbage.” |
