This morning, Sen. Mark Warner was on Face the Nation and also Fox “News.” See below for what he had to say (video clips courtesy of the amazing Aaron Rupar; also The Bulwark, which is super helpful as well).
- Sen. Mark Warner: “There is a very real threat without reforms at ICE that you could have ICE patrols around polling stations. And people say, ‘Why would that matter if they’re all American citizens?’ Because we’ve seen ICE discriminate against Latinos … you don’t need to do a lot to discourage people from voting.”
- Mark Warner on Fox News Sunday: “What’s amazing to me is historically the GOP has been about ‘let’s not have federal overreach.’ Well, we’ve got federal overreach with ICE. We’ve got federal overreach with the president saying ‘let’s nationalize our elections.’ Do you really want ICE roving agents showing up at polling stations?”
- Sen. Mark Warner on Tulsi Gabbard going to the Fulton County elections office: “We have not been informed of any foreign nexus. The job of the DNI is to be outward facing — about foreigners, not about Americans…My fear in this case is it almost seems Nixonian.“
- Sen. Mark Warner: “We subsequently found that this was not the first time [DNI Tulsi Gabbard] was involved in domestic activities. She went down and seized some voting machines in Puerto Rico earlier in the year. We had no knowledge of that. Then the question of what she’s been doing in Georgia — there’s been three or four different stories since it broke…The whole thing stinks to high heaven.”
- Here’s the full video of Sen. Mark Warner on Face the Nation this morning. “My fear is now, [Trump] sees the political winds turning against him and he’s going to try to
interfere in the 2026 elections. Something that a year ago I didn’t think would be possible.”
