From the Arlington County Democratic Committee (ACDC):
March for Our Lives Weekend with Arlington County Democratic Committee
Featuring Keynotes by Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and Delegate Chris Hurst!
Arlington, VA – March 20, 2018 — The Arlington County Democratic Committee (Arlington Democrats) is planning a Weekend of Action in support of the March for Our Lives on March 24 in Washington D.C.
One month ago, a shooter opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida – killing 17 and wounding 15 students and staff. In response, their classmates and students around the nation have called for action against school violence. This week, students across the country engaged in a walk-out to send the message that they have suffered #enough gun violence. The youth have called for all of us to join them in the March for Our Lives.
Arlington Democrats, along with strong support of key anti-gun violence and progressive groups in Arlington, are responding to this call and are planning to march in solidarity with the Parkland students, all students and families who have been affected by gun violence, and our community – because we must each do our part to prevent gun violence.
We also want to send a strong message to our elected officials of our support for sensible gun control and comprehensive action to eliminate gun violence in our schools and community. Our elected officials are hearing our call and will be joining the Weekend of Action.
We have a full agenda for the weekend, beginning with a Poster Making Party and Pot Luck Friday evening, the March for Our Lives on Saturday morning, and Town Hall on Sunday afternoon. We are honored to have a full slate of outstanding speakers for our Sunday Town Hall. Our main speaker is Rep. Chris Hurst, who was inspired by his own gun related tragedy to run and win in the 12th District of Virginia’s House of Delegates in 2017. In addition, we have speakers from key anti-gun violence groups, as well as elected officials, who will provide a broad look at our gun violence issues and our path forward in Virginia.
Please join Arlington Dems, Network NoVA, Indivisible Arlington, Moms Demand Action, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and Together We Will for a Weekend of Action in honor of March for Our Lives:
