Another strong endorsement for Jaime Areizaga-Soto, who yesterday was endorsed by State Sen. Chap Petersen. It’s also fascinating how many Arlington elected officials have not made an endorsement in this race. From what I’ve heard, a significant number of Arlington elected officials are quietly supporting Areizaga-Soto, but are nervous about saying so publicly for fear of retribution from Barbara Favola and/or Dick Saslaw. To me, that really says it all about this race.
Arlington County Commonwealth’s Attorney Dick Trodden Endorses Jaime Areizaga-Soto for State Senate
ARLINGTON, VA. – Today the Jaime Areizaga-Soto for State Senate campaign announced the endorsement of Richard E. Trodden, Arlington County Commonwealth’s Attorney since 1993.
“Jaime will be a fierce advocate in Richmond for our families and for keeping our community safe,” said Trodden. “We can count on Jaime to stand against the backwards agenda of Ken Cuccinelli and focus on what makes Northern Virginia a great place to live.”
“I am proud to have the support of another long-serving community leader,” said Areizaga-Soto. “I will always stand up for our community and ensure that it continues to be a safe place to live and raise a family.”
UPDATE: A knowledgeable Democratic insider commented to me, “Thats a huge get for Jaime and should be seen as a slap in the face for Favola. And there is no more loved or respected elected official in Arlington than Dick Trodden. I’m honestly shocked Trodden is getting involved.”
