"It is time Democrats come together and work for the betterment of the Commonwealth.”

Not sure I’ve seen anything quite like this before; a Virginia Democratic candidate (in this case Kim Howard in SD7 — Virginia Beach City, Norfolk City; 54% Northam district…in Northam’s backyard) “affirm[ing] her support for Governor Ralph Northam and challeng[ing] [Democratic primary opponent Del.] Cheryl Turpin to rescind her demand for Governor Northam’s resignation.” Given what we’ve seen in polling, it does seem like Northam is popular among Democratic voters, but I wonder how this will play among folks who are *not* ready to forgive Northam or to rescind their demands that he resign. I guess we’ll find out soon enough…

Kim Howard Challenges Cheryl Turpin to Rescind Demand for Governor Northam’s Resignation

Virginia Beach – Today, Kim Howard, Democratic candidate for State Senate, affirmed her support for Governor Ralph Northam and challenged Cheryl Turpin to rescind her demand for Governor Northam’s resignation.

“Governor Northam expanded Medicaid giving 400,000 Virginians access to health care, brought Amazon’s Headquarters to the Commonwealth creating over 25,000 jobs, and brought the Virginian unemployment rate down to historic lows. These are the issues that improve Virginians lives right now,” said Howard. “It is disappointing that Cheryl Turpin has not rescinded her demand that the Governor resign despite the progress we’ve made and the work that still needs to be done. Governor Northam apologized for mistakes he made early in life, but his legacy should not be erased solely by mistakes made over 30 years ago. It is time Democrats come together and work for the betterment of the Commonwealth.”

Kim Howard is a Democratic candidate running for Virginia State Senate in SD-07. Kim served 23 years as a Naval Intelligence Officer and was among the first women deployed on a combatant ship. Kim worked at the Pentagon, managed Naval Intelligence training programs, and today works at a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business. Kim is running to bring progress to Richmond. She will be a champion of public schools, work to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, and confront climate change at the local and regional level by addressing sea-level rise and mitigating neighborhood flooding.

Kim graduated from Frank W. Cox High School, her daughter Hannah graduated from Princess Anne High School in 2018 and her son William is a student at Old Donation School.
