See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health. So, at this point (3/31), in Virginia we’re at 1,250 total reported cases, 165 hospitalizations and 27 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 230 (+23%) in the latest statistics, which is a higher rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 136 (+15%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 29 (+21%), from 136 to 165, which is about the same rate of increase as the previous day (which was up 24, or +21%). Deaths went up 2 (from 25 to 27), compared to an increase of 3 (from 22 to 25) the previous day. So overall, not great news, particularly on the number of cases, but hopefully this curve will really start flattening out in coming days if we keep up the social distancing and other measures. Also, of course, we need a LOT more testing capacity, PPE, etc.
