See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health. So, at this point (4/12), in Virginia we’re at 5,274 total reported cases, 872 hospitalizations and 141 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 197 (+4%) in the latest statistics, which is a significantly slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 568 (+13%). It’s also the slowest rate of increase since this crisis began, so that’s good news. As for hospitalizations, they went up 35 (+4%), from 837 to 872, which is a slower rate of increase than the previous day (which was up 65, or +8%), and also the slowest rate of increase since the crisis began. Deaths are reported up 11 (from 130 to 141), compared to an increase of 9 (from 121 to 130) the previous day, which obviously isn’t good news. But..overall, encouraging numbers, particularly on the slower rates of growth in confirmed cases and hospitalizations. Hopefully, the curve will continue to “flatten out” in coming days/weeks if we keep up the social distancing and other measures. Also, of course, we need a LOT more testing capacity, PPE, etc.
Sunday (4/12) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +197 Cases (to 5,274), +35 Hospitalizations (to 872), +11 Deaths (to 141) From Yesterday
Slowest day-to-day rates of growth in confirmed cases (4%) and hospitalizations (4%) since the crisis began. Is the curve in Virginia starting to "bend?"
