See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health. So, at this point (4/14), in Virginia we’re at 6,171 total reported cases, 978 hospitalizations and 154 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 424 (+7%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 473 (+9%).  As for hospitalizations, they went up 75 (+8%), from 903 to 978, which is a faster rate of increase than the previous day (which was up 31, or +4%). Deaths are reported up 5 (from 149 to 154), compared to an increase of 8 (from 141 to 149) the previous day. Overall, kinda “meh” numbers…slower rate of growth than during March and early April, but higher than yesterday. Hopefully, the curve will continue to “flatten out” in coming days/weeks if we keep up the social distancing and other measures. Also, of course, we need a LOT more testing capacity, PPE, etc.
