NOTE: There seems to be declining interest in this daily update, so I’m cutting it down somewhat and might reduce the # of times per week as well. No, the pandemic is not even CLOSE to being over, but at this point a lot of people seem to have simply lost interest and moved on…for better or (most probably) worse.
See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (6/26), in Virginia we’re at 60,570 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 6,071 hospitalizations and 1,700 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 624 (+1.0%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 432 (+0.7%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 76 (+1.3%), from 5,995 to 6,071, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 40 (0.7%), and the fastest rate of day-to-day increase in hospitalizations since June 12.
