See below for video of Sen. Tim Kaine’s questions to Dr. Anthony Fauci a little while ago, as Dr. Fauci testified to the Senate HELP Committee.

  • Sen. Kaine asked Dr. Fauci about a “too sizable” percentage of the public that “doesn’t like science and scientists and advice from scientists,” and too many people are gathering in large groups without masks. Dr. Fauci responded that, “the disregard of recommendations that come from authorities…the attitude of pushing back from authority and…on scientific data is very concerning. We’re in the middle of a catastrophic outbreak and we really do need to be guided by scientific principles.”
  • Kaine added that this anti-science attitude could “cause problems down the road if we get to a vaccine but people don’t want to get the vaccine.”
  • Kaine asked Dr. Fauci whether the nation’s goal with regard to coronavirus is more about mitigation or suppression. Dr. Fauci responded that “it depends on where you are; there’s containment and mitigation…”
  • Kaine asked Admiral Giroir whether we’re going to get to 1.3-1.7 million tests per day by September? Giroir answered that “we will absolutely have the capacity to do that, depending on the need…”
