See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (11/17), in Virginia we’re at 206,762 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 13,608 hospitalizations and 3,835 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 2,125 (+1.0%) in the latest statistics, which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 2,677 (+1.3%). [Note from VDH: “The 2,677 case count reported on Monday, November 16 is due to a catch-up from the VDH data system being down for upgrades for a few hours over the weekend”] As for hospitalizations, they went up 56 (+0.4%), which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 48 (+0.4%). Deaths are reported +29 compared to +6 the previous day. The number of TOTAL test results is currently at 3,208,319 TOTAL test results (up 27,466 from yesterday; note that, according to researchers at Harvard, we need 21,145 test results/day for mitigation, 81,741/day for suppression).
