These people are truly astounding in how open they are about their nasty, dog-eat-dog view of the world. They’re also truly astounding in how politically tone deaf they are. Oh yeah, bashing teachers, firefighters and police officers is really going to play well in Virginia and other “swing states.” Yeah, you guys keep “doubling down” on that meme and see how it works out for you in November. that, with “fewer children in the classroom” of course there would be fewer teachers—- meaning, apparently, that the rising numbers of school-aged childrebn in the country would now be in charter schools, not public schools, or not in school at all (and Republicans would not care at all, since all those extra children not in school would probably be minorities, or maybe illegal aliens, anyway). And what will the children be learning in those charter schools? Creationism, global climate change denial, and how to be obedient little servants to the corporate elite.

As for fewer firefighters, I guess Mitt sand the Republicans are planning on fewer fires? I wonder how the inhabitants of Fort Collins, Colorado, and folks in New Mexico might feel about that as they flee wildfires? And when it comes to fewer policemen, well, Mitt et al couldn’t care less because anyone who counts will be able to afford their own private security and bodyguards, and the underclass will have their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves.

but if teachers don’t bother to register to vote, how in heaven’s name do they think the system is ever going to change?  Harry Wiggins, PWCDC chair, told me that there are enough teachers who aren’t registered to vote in Prince William County that the committee has begun a teacher outreach effort.
