TIM KAINE ANNOUNCES RADIO SPOT FEATURING ANNE HOLTON

Richmond, VA – Today, Tim Kaine unveiled a radio ad featuring his wife, Anne Holton, speaking directly to Virginia voters about her husband's record as governor of Virginia and his commitment to advancing priorities like education.  In the sixty-second spot titled “Family Issues,” Holton describes how Kaine's faith and family have helped guide him as an elected official. “As governor, he made tough decisions to balance the budget. He brought both parties together to cut spending by five billion dollars – and cut his own pay.”  Holton closes by reminding voters of Kaine's commitment to ensuring women receive equal pay for equal work and keeping government out of women's health care decisions, saying “These aren’t women’s issues, they’re family issues.”

“Through twenty-seven years of marriage, Anne has been a constant source of support, wisdom, and laughter,” said Kaine.  “I'm so proud to have her representing me on the campaign trail.  Our marriage and our partnership raising three wonderful kids, has made me a better elected official, and strengthened my resolve to make sure our daughter has the same opportunities in life as our sons.  As a senator, I'll invest in priorities like education that help provide our children with a strong foundation for success, I'll break down barriers that prevent women from securing equal pay for equal work, and I'll focus on bringing our leaders together to tackle our fiscal and economic challenges rather than rehashing settled battles on women's health and rights.”

Last week, Kaine announced his first TV ad, “Best,” as well as Spanish TV and radio ads titled “Valores” as part of a $4.5 million state-wide advertising campaign that will run through Election Day.

KAINE FOR VIRGINIA RADIO AD: “FAMILY ISSUES” (:60)

Anne Holton: My husband appreciates strong women. His mother helped with his father’s iron-working shop while raising three boys.  He’s also supported my career as a lawyer, judge, and child advocate.

I’m Anne Holton, and Tim Kaine is my husband of twenty-seven years.  Tim learned something early in his Dad’s shop: personal responsibility and hard work.

As a young man, Tim served as a missionary in Honduras, teaching kids math, carpentry and a little about life.

As governor, he made tough decisions to balance the budget. He brought both parties together to cut spending by five billion dollars – and cut his own pay.

Now, Tim has a plan to invest in education and job training. With our daughter following our boys to college soon, that’s important to us. It’s why Tim supports equal pay and family leave and believes government should stay out of women’s health decisions.

These aren’t women’s issues, they’re family issues.

Tim Kaine: I’m Tim Kaine and I approve this message.

Anne Holton: Paid for by Kaine for Virginia.
