So…not only are high-ranking Virginia Republicans not condemning EW Jackson’s bigoted, hateful, outrageous, divisive remarks, they are actively embracing him, even raising money for the guy! Honestly, we need to toss out every single one of the Republicans at the next opportunity. That starts on November 5, 2013.

Republican Senate Leader tells audience Jackson will lead Virginia in the right direction

(Richmond)  Today, the Virginia Republican Senate Caucus held a fundraiser for E.W. Jackson, the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor at the Downtown Marriott in Richmond, Virginia.  On the invitation headed by “The Virginia Senate Republican Caucus” they are asking for contributions ranging from $50 to $2,500.  Stated in the body of the invitation is “PROCEEDS FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE DONATED TO E.W. JACKSON’S CAMPAIGN TO ASSIST HIS EFFORTS TO BECOME THE TIE-BREAKING VOTE IN THE VIRGINIA SENATE.”  (Capitalized in invitation)

Of course E.W. Jackson has been in the news since winning the Republican nomination for Lt. Governor Saturday night for his extreme, divisive and just plain strange comments he has made in recent years.  Here are just a few:

    •  On Planned Parenthood:   “Planned Parenthood has been more lethal to black lives than the KKK ever was.”  Message to Black Christians, 9/8/12

    •  On Democrats:   “How have they (Democrats) managed to hold on to black Christians in spite of an agenda worthy of the Antichrist?”  Washington Times, October 1, 2012.

    •  On the LGBT community:  “Their minds are perverted, they’re frankly very sick people psychologically, mentally, and emotionally and they see everything through the lens of homosexuality.”  Americans for Truth Radio, 10/19/12

    •  On Democrats – again:  “Bishop Jackson maintained that the Democratic Party represents “godlessness,” and stands for “fiscal irresponsibility, moral relativism or amorality, anti-Christian bigotry, and a foreign policy of surrender and appeasement.” Rightwing Watch.org, 10/4/10

“I am confident with your conviction and your vision and your faith that you’re going to help lead Virginia in the direction that we need to continue to go and that direction needs to be led by Republicans,” said Republican Leader Tommy Norment (R-James City) to E.W. Jackson in front of the paying audience.

Senator Saslaw replied to Senator Norment’s compliment of Jackson, “That direction also includes some of the worst bigotry in America.”

“The Republican Senators are truly putting their money where E.W, Jackson’ mouth is,” said Senate Democratic Leader Dick Saslaw (D-Fairfax).  He continued, “I have to assume they must agree with Jackson. However, I believe there is no place in Virginia politics for what he has said.”

“The Virginia Senate Republicans are continuing to pursue their divisive agenda.  Apparently, this is who they stand with and want breaking ties to promote their shared extreme ideology” said Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Donald McEachin (D-Henrico).
